Hi NRL,
Refunds can be a big problem for digital products...
after all, the customer doesn't have to go through
the process of sending anything back!
(Although I do find it funny when someone says "I've
already deleted your product from my hard drive."
Like it matters to me!)
I tell you what... in the past, my refund rate was
MUCH higher.
For example... in 2007, I ran a training program
with a 10% refund rate!
I quickly discovered the problem (I'll show you
what I do now be low), and now my refund rate is
generally about 1%, rarely above 2%.
For my last two training programs, I've received
a total of 2 refund requests (out of a couple
hundred sales).
But they were the BEST kind of refund request I
could get...
"Sorry Brian, I just don't have time to implement
all of this high quality training material!"
I can live with that :-)
So... here's what I do:
1) Have sales copy that ACCURATELY describes what
you're offering (i.e. no hype, just the facts)
2) Provide prompt, courteous customer service.
3) OVERDELIVER by giving even more than what was
promisded.
4) Relate to your customers on a personal level.
That's really it... those simple insights have
dropped my refund rate by 1,000%!
Put them to use, and you'll see more of your sales
go right into your pocket ;-)
