Australian cricketing great Adam Gilchrist will retire from test cricket at the end of 2008. The well known and likeable Aussie wicket keeper has broken many records during his time. A lethal left handed wicket keeper batsman, Gilchrist set new standards for wicket keepers and took the batting to a new level for his role.
Batting tonight in the Twenty 20 clash with India at the MCG (2008) Gilchrist was wired for sound and commentated live during the match. During both fielding and batting, Gilly was chatting with the Channel 9 commentators and giving his insight into the game.
At 36 years of age, Gilchrist has picked a good time to leave the game - especially with his form at a high peak - he can walk away a happy man. NSW keeper Brad Haddin is tipped to step up in the shoes of Gilly at the stumps in the Australian team.
